Born San Diego, Calif., 16 June 1894. Aeronautical engineer
1916. Bulit and flew a Chanute glider in 1909 thus launching
a career in aviation spanning more than 60 years.
Established his own aircraft manufacturing company in 1919
eventually producing his own designs culminating in a series
of advanced concept low cost private aircraft.
Upon retirement from the aerospace industry in 1945 he continued
design and development of private aircraft utilizing automobile
engines and hang gliders. Died 8 December 1976.
