German Aeronautical Design Genius
Born 26 June 1898, Frankfurt, Germany. In 1915 built and flew a glider of his own design. Formed his own aircraft company in 1923 which evolved into the leading firm of the German aero industry.

From his design genius flowed a procession of trainer, transport, military and sport aircraft. Most famous of his aircraft was the BF109, an advanced fighter design of the mid 1930s produced during WW II in greater numbers than any aircraft in history. Producer of the world's first operational jet fighter, the ME262. Leader in the post war rebirth of German Aerospace Industry. Died 15 September 1976.
