Born 15 November 1906, Columbus, Ohio. From the Pursuit
Pilot of 1928, to Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force in 1962,
he was known for the Perfection, Dedication and the high
order of Discipline demanded of himself and his subordinates.
An intrepid air commander who personally led his formations
in Europe and the Pacific.
His use of air power for Humanitarianism in the 1947 Berlin
Air Lift, the Strategic Air Command and its nuclear deterrence
he developed, kept the world at peace for three decades.
These and his innovative operational management concepts mark
him as a dominant figure of aero history.
