The C-141 was the first all jet cargo aircraft ever built, the
first jet aircraft used by paratroopers and the first to land
in the Antarctic. It can carry vehicles, cargo, or passengers
handling over 30 different missions and could carry 103 litter
patients with a full medical staff. C-141s flew daily to
Vietnam. In 1973 C-141s flew the 566 released POW's from
Vietnam to the U.S. via Clark AFB. In 1977 the C-141's were
converted to the "B" model adding 23 feet, a new wing root and
in-flight re-fueling. In Aug. 1990 a C-141 was the first USAF
transport to fly into Saudi Arabia. During Desert Storm C-141's
flew more than 37,000 flights. This aircraft was delivered in
1966 and served at Travis AFB, McCord AFB, McGuire AFB and in
1995 to March AFB. It retired in 1998 with 43,570 flight hours
and 23,705 landings. In Nov 1999 it was towed over to March
