Trophy three times for outstanding achievements in aviation.
Established world altitude record of 40,800 feet in 1921,
world endurance record of 35 hours, 18 minutes, in 1922. A
pilot of U.S. Air Service Fokker T-2 on first nonstop
transcontinental flight, 1923. First to dust crops from
the air. First to fly pressurized aircraft. Played a major
role in development of high altitude flight physiology, turbo
super chargers, aerial photography and parachutes.
