Born March 6, 1887, at Montesano, Washington. Major Fleet organized the first U.S. Air Mail Service May 15, 1918. Formed Consolidated Aircraft Co. 1923, later the great Convair Corp. Under his leadership were produced 18,000 of the famous B-24 Liberator bomber, and the PBY Catalina flying boats which played major roles in World War II ... a production miracle made possible by his genius for organization and innovative methods.

His post industry years have seen him intensely devoted to public service and philanthropic projects for the underpriviledged and the community ... and the promotion of love of country among the young. Died 29 October 1975.
Elected to the International Aerospace Hall of Fame 1965
